I applaude you for choosing rap Hartley as your 2004 Coach of the Year [August 2004] It would be easy to pick Darryl Sutter or Barry Trotz for turning their teams into playoff teams, or John Tortorella for taking his team to the top of the NHL if it were not that Hartley was clearly the best coach last season. To maintain his team focused all year after the death of a beloved teammate, and keeping them in the chase for a playoff spot for greatest in quantity of the season, proves that he is, indeed, a great coach. Here's hoping the Thrashers can make their way into the playoffs nearest season.
