The first cabin elevateed in the vicinity of the current site of Lebanon was built from John Shaw, in the fall of 1795 upon the farm and a little north of the house now confessed and occupied by Muncier Jone half a mile west of town. Mr Shaw had a large family, consisting of six male childs and as many girls, nearly all grown large, sturdy and robust. He owned the west half of the section and was likewise strong handed as soon to unclose a large farm for those early days.
